Okay now maybe this topic has been previously covered and I might be late to the party but I have to express my outrage at this nonsense. I mean first Cingular was going out of there way to lure Att "holdouts" to now telling them that they have to meet certain "conditions" to join the Cingular side?? Someone please tell me WTF is going on in the Cingular offices?? I mean the new crappy price plans...$14.99 family talk add line fees...etc. Someone please slap the Sh!t out of whoever at Cingular is coming up with these "genius" ideas!!! Dammit man!! 👿 I love Cingular but they are REALLY losing their damn minds now!! Oh sorry for bringing up old sh!t again. 🙄 😉

Buying time my friend. Network integration, billing issues... the list continues. After the initial merger hype died down, they started running low on fuel... So I think they are doing what they can to stall for a min and pick up the pace one they have something else to lay claim to.

Believe it or not...this is actually most likely business strategy. I know it sounds weird but hear me out.

We have 50 million customers, that's more than any wireless carrier has ever had. We're also still working on a HUGE two network integration and buildout in areas that may have been divested (1000 new towers in NC WOOHOOO). Meanwhile we've got BIG advertising campaigns to attract America's attention to the new big dog carrier and making it look like everybody's here. During all that we MUST control growth to deal with things like capacity issues, understaffed call centers and just the time that it takes to combine 2 companies.

Raising the prices (and changing policies) effectively controls growth until those problems can be s...

You people really need to go back and learn to count.

The rates were not ALL raised. Some were lowered, some were left alone, and some were raised.

And as for migrations, no one said they can't migrate, they just can't migrate with new equipment at 2 year rates if they aren't eligible for an upgrade (and from what I have read, that is only in certain markets) just like EVERY other Cingular customer. You can migrate w/o being eligible for new equipment at a discount very easily. You can buy a phone at the no commitment price (just like every other person must do in this wireless universe) or get your AT&T handset unlocked (which can be done by simply doing a google search and paying a small fee).

Talk about glass half empty type o...

Tex... I will say that $100.00 for a secondary line on a 6000 min plan is a little steep... but that's all I'll say... 🙂

And how many of those do you actually sell?

Versus how many of the $39.99 plans did we sell with $19.99 as a second and third line?

If you took a weighed average of the plans sold and compared that to which ones changed, Cingular actually lowered the rates and added minutes to the MAJORITY of rate plans sold.

It is a matter of being jaded and pessimistic about change or being able to look at things and find the positive items.

There isn't anything positive about the $14.99 add on.

Old $39.99 plan with 3 lines

450 minutes, 5000 N&W $79.97

New minimum plan with 3 lines

500 minutes, Unlimited N&W $74.98

Do I need to keep going, or do you want to revise your ignorant statement?

Do all the changes result in lower prices? No. Do people need to stop being drama queens about the sky falling? Yes.
